This is what Michel Pelckmans always did when confronted with life’s hardship, a passion for his poetry like lyrics served as all time anchor point trough his life.
During his youth he worked as a DJ for “Radio Centraal” in Antwerp and was bitten by the experimental age the 80ties formed, the spoken word Electro of Anne Clark, a monumental U2 at Live-Aid, taut pop of Kim Wilde and the unvarnished lyrics of Eurythmics.
Along with the very strong influences from the Antwerp based rock-scene referring to dEUS, Moondog Jr and Zita Swoon it resulted into the start of a new project in April 2012: Replaced Music. Replaced Music is Belgian independent experimental-indie with a strong emphasis on poetry and lyrics. Michel’s lyrics are autobiographic with no self-restraint and right in the face. From that point of view they offer more meaning than the larger part of contemporary music.
This album came to life during a time of hardship. I pored my heart and soul in it, it kept me on a straight track and is literally my wildcard. I knew it would be hard to get there but also a personal groundbreaking album. It has been recorded at the BonaFideStudio in London. And includes a much entertaining and educative “making of” DVD.
Currently there is a re-release running that includes some two extra tracks “This Train” and “Wrong”.
